Hired by Phoenix Media/Communications Group, publisher of The Official Boston Marathon Program Magazine, to bring in new business, Alicia has added significant advertising revenue for the publication in 2008 with all new advertisers or accounts that had been untapped for a number of years.
Alicia works with Associate Publisher Howard Temkin, who has also served as the Advertising Director of the publication for a decade.
Alicia was brought in to tap into her deep list of relationships with marathons and other running events. Her experience with smaller product and service advertisers from her time selling classified ads for Running Times enabled her to compile a plethora of advertising leads that were previously untapped and eventually sold. A third area that she was to able to draw prospects from were the dormant accounts—advertisers who had not advertised in the Boston Marathon Program for more than three years.
Alicia was able to add a significant amount of ‘found money’ to the publication’s bottom line and has been welcomed back to work on the 2009 Official Boston Marathon Program.
The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest and most prestigious marathon. The Official Boston Marathon Program distributes almost 80,000 copies (including distribution to all Boston Marathon runners). The Official Boston Marathon Program, is the only print publication officially sanctioned by the Boston Athletic Association.
It is glossy, 4-color, perfect-bound, and resounds with history, lore, thrilling profiles, and feature articles detailing all of the sub-plots unfolding within this historic race. It is savored, saved, and is the finest publication of its genre in the world.
