Created and launched national charity program for MMRF, growing from one event in 2007 to a program that will raise $500,000+ in 2009, including teams for Boston, NY, Chicago, Marine Corps and more.
In 2007, Alicia launched a effort to build a marathon program for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
Beginning with 20 runners for the 2007 ING NY City marathon, Alicia lent her efforts and skills to create fundraising, training, and communication and administration tools to make the first MMRF Marathon Team a success. The 20 member MMRF inaugural team, which included Alicia, raised $125,000 – an impressive $6250 average per runner.
On the heels of that campaign, the 2008 MMRF Marathon event slate was set to include the Boston Marathon, ING NY City Marathon, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon and a hand full of full and half marathons. As the 2008 marathon season saw 62 runners participate in the MMRF Marathon and Half Marathon Program, raising close to $300,000 for the year, with an average of $4600+ per team member.
The 2009 MMRF Marathon and Half Marathon Program has just been announced and can be viewed at www.mmrfmarthon.org. The 2009 campaign is on track to attract 120 or more runners, and expects to have donations that exceed $500,000 for the year.
